The Haupt Tree Company celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2007.
Company founder, Erik H. Haupt, worked his way through college doing tree work while attending Colgate. After graduating from Colgate, Erik served in the Marine Corps as an Engineer Equipment Officer before starting his tree company. The Marine Corps had a great influence on the initial organization of his company, which had a distinctive military flare. From the beginning Erik wanted the emphasis of his new company to be about tree care and preservation, when most tree companies at the time focused primarily on their tree removal services. He took pride in the appearance of his equipment, and provided his crew with uniforms and safety equipment such as hard hats, something that was uncommon at the time. Organization, customer service, professionalism, safety and knowledgeable quality work, and were the priorities of his new company.

Today our emphasis is to continue to maintain the highest level of professionalism, and in providing the very best in tree care and customer service. Our company is currently managed by a second generation of Haupts, with Erik G. Haupt, II as President and COO and Peter J. Haupt, Vice President and safety and training coordinator. Erik’s son, Peter J. Haupt, II who has worked several years as a climber for the company, and is currently attending the University of Massachusetts, Stockbridge School of Arboriculture.
The Haupt Tree Company services an extensive area in the tri-state area, including all of western Massachusetts, all of Northwestern Connecticut and the adjacent eastern New York counties of Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Albany and Rensselaer. Our crews have also worked as far as Central Park in New York City, on Cape Cod and Island of Nantucket.
