
Macro-injection of fungicide
Protecting elm trees from Dutch elm disease: Dutch elm disease is a lethal disease caused by an aggressive fungus. The disease is primarily transmitted by the elm bark beetle that feeds in the 2-4 year old branches. The Haupt Tree Company utilizing a proven fungicide called Arbotect, to protect health elm trees from infection. This fungicide provides three growing seasons of protection, at which time the tree needs to be re treated. The most effective way to insure complete distribution of the material is through a process called macro-injection. The pictures illustrate the process of macro-injection into the root flair of the tree. The Haupt Tree Company has been Arbotect to protect elm trees since 1986. Our success rate is approximately 99% in protecting a health elm tree from infection.
The same fungicide and process is also effective in protecting Sycamore trees from Sycamore anthracnose. Sycamore anthracnose is not a lethal disease as compared to Dutch elm disease, however, it can cause leaf drop in the late spring and subsequent infections can reduce tree vitality and cause twig dieback.
